Link road to school constructed
ITANAGAR, Nov 15: Link road to the Govt Middle School Bassernallo was constructed during a social service organized by All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) yesterday on the occasion of Children’s Day. During the drive, more than 150 volunteers including public leaders of Bassernallo area, ZPM, ASM, GB and All Bassarnello Youth Association (ABYA) along with the members of APPDSU also worked on a flood control wall for the school.

ITANAGAR, Nov 15: As a part of children’s day celebration, the Society for Education and Environmental Development (SEED) conducted a school level extempore speech competition at Govt Secondary School Bizari under Dambuk circle of Lower Dibang Valley district on November 14 last.
Oyi Ratan and Onyok Pertin bagged the first and 2nd prizes in the senior category while Annom Gamno and Subhom Paswan took away first and second prizes in the junior category respectively. Altogether 60 students had participated in it.
IMCLS opposes transfer of subject teachers

ROING, Nov 15: Expressing concern over the continuous trend of transferring subjects teachers of Government Higher Secondary School, Anini during mid session, the Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS), in a letter to the Anini Deputy Commissioner requested him halt transfer order and not to release the subject teachers.
"This process of transferring subject teachers at the peak hour when the exams are approaching really affects the studies of the students adversely. Each year the same thing happens and the consequence can be seen in the result of the final examination. In the last school session alone, only 11 out of 33 students managed to pass out," said IMCLS general secretary Rajiv Mihu. He further said "Whatever may be the reason behind such abrupt mid session transfers of teachers, the Government should understand that the ultimate sufferers are the students. Their career and their future are put on stake."
The IMCLS informed that TGT Economics, TGT English and PGT Economics have been given transfer orders, while JT Hindi has already left without any reliever.

ITANAGAR, Nov 15: Mudang Omo of Ziro became the quickest man of Arunachal Pradesh, when he clicked 33 minutes to finish the marathon race from Naharlagun to Itanagar with the theme “Jaag Arunachal Bhaag Arunachal” organized by Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress today.
Karbu Kena of Daporijo came two minutes behind Omo to take the second position in men’s open category.
Soma Pao finished third with a timing of 35 minutes.
Anung Wangsu of Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy retained the women’s open category title. She took 56.14 minutes to cover the distance between Naharlagun and Itanagar. Anung had won the title in the first edition of the marathon race last year.
Soni Nalo (56.59 min) of SLSA and Posen Kongkang (58.31 min) of SAI SAG, Naharlagun finished second and third respectively.
Bamin Grayu won the title in men’s above 45 year category with a timing of 58.48 minutes. Lindum Nilo (62 min) and Sashu Taniang (75 min) took the second and third position respectively.
In women’s above 30 years category, Apu Rotom was the winner, she took 48.60 minute to cover the distance. Rotom Yada (50.90 min) and Ayik Rotom (53.12 min) finished second and third respectively.
The winner, second and third place finishers of Men’s and Women’s Open categories were awarded cash prizes of Rs.75,000, Rs.35,000 and Rs.20,000 respectively along with certificates. Cash prizes of Rs.50,000, Rs.30,000 and Rs. 15,000 were awarded to the winners, second and third place finishers of Men’s above 45 year and Women’s above 30 year categories respectively. There were also consolation prizes of Rs.5000 each for the top 10 finishers.
Cash prize of Rs. 2000 each was given to top six finishers of children age below 16 years category.
The race started at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun around 8 am and Congress Bhawan, Itanagar was the finishing point.
Home Minister Tanga Byaling, who was present both at the starting and finishing points, exhorted the participants, especially youths to avoid drugs, alcohol and maintain a disciplined life. He also highlighted the various sportspersons friendly programmes and policies of the government, including job reservation for meritorious sportspersons in state govt. departments.
Bollywood actress Neetu Chandra was all praise for the participants, particularly those mothers and children below 16 years, for their enthusiasm and stamina to complete the race and win prizes. She even queried one of those participating women above 30 years about the secret behind their body fitness and stamina.

ITANAGAR, Nov 15: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh JP Rajkhowa has suggested authority of the Biological Park to induct new species in Itanagar Zoo to woo more visitors.
Governor, who along with First Lady Rita Rajkhowa visited the Biological Park today, advised the Zoo authority to induct captives, including Rhinos, Hippo and Chimpanzees in the zoo. Rajkhowa advised the forest officials to start animal exchange programmes with other states and zoos.
The Governor said that he will communicate with his Assam counterpart for some Rhinos in the Parks of Arunachal Pradesh. Assam has gifted many Rhinos to States like Odissa and Delhi, he said expressed confidence that the State will gift some Rhinos to Arunachal Pradesh too.
Sharing his experiences of visiting zoos in India and abroad, particularly San Diago Zoo in USA, the Governor said that the Park must introduce fibreglass signboards near the enclosures for providing details of the captives.
The Governor said that like Parks all over the world it must have concession in the entry fee for the senior citizens and physically challenged people.
The Park must have special provisions for them to enjoy the best of the facilities. He also advised the Park officials for renovation of the railings, enclosures and road link to the Park and its internal arterial roads.
During the visit, the Governor interacted with other visitors and exhorted them, particularly the parents and guardians to visit the Park regularly along with their wards as it is very educative for the children.
Citing deaths of large numbers of Vultures, which are considered to be best natural scavengers, in Assam due to poisoning by veterinary drugs, the Governor called for more awareness on birds and animals through facilities like Biological Parks and Zoos. Such facilities promote conservation of the flora and fauna, he added. Arunachal Pradesh has one of the 35 hotspots of the world and also large numbers of endangered flora and fauna. ITANAGAR, Nov 15: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has extended his best wishes to the media fraternity on the occasion of the National Press Day being celebrated on November 16 throughout the country under the auspices of Press Council of India.
In a message this evening, the Chief Minister put on record his appreciation to the state’s small but vibrant media fraternity for choosing to celebrate this year’s National Press Day at Pasighat for the first time. Traditionally, the celebration was held every year at the state capital Itanagar.

wards. The healthcare services offered by the state hospital to the people are no
doubt commendable though, it lacks a regular hygienic atmosphere for patients and
their visiting families to ensure that their stay is comfortable and they feel being
taken care of. A hospital should first of all signify cleanliness and order symbolizing
dignity of its patients and their overall well being. It is the basic right of every

Tuki urges NE people to take part in Nation building
NEW DELHI, Nov 15: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki called upon the people from the North East residing outside their home states in the country to come together in building a stronger India while respecting and preserving their identities.
“Let us be immersed in building together a strong India, where there is freedom of thought and expression and where all can grow, where differences are something we enjoy and not the grudge cause for rivalry,” Tuki said while attending the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the North East Catholic Community of Delhi (NECCOD) in the national capital today.
Congratulating the Catholic community from the North East on occasion of the Silver Jubilee, he said that the Bible and Catholic traditions teach all to be faithful to the nation and the Catholics, down the centuries, have been doing just that.
While pointing that coming from various states, ethnic and linguistic groups, people have been able to sink their differences and come together for the celebration, Tuki said the same can be achieved in all other aspects of daily life, particularly in nation building.
“You who are away from your homes in the North East and live in Delhi have a great role in educating our young to be faithful to their traditions and at the same time get absorbed into the national mainstream with pure heart and respect,” he said.
Tuki urged the North East community, particularly NECCOD, to become not just a source of inspiration and role models but a source of help to those in need and those who come down to the national capital far away from their homes and families.

ITANAGAR, Nov 15: The State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took strong exception to Arunachal Pradesh Committee (APCC)’s recent press statement alleging that the BJP has made the Raj Bhawan as its party headquarters.
Expressing shock over the allegation linking the Raj Bhawan with the party, State BJP president Tai Tagak in a party meeting here today said that the constitutional head has never been dragged into any controversy for petty political reasons by the state BJP.
The institution of Governor is the custodian of the Constitution and is above the partisan politics and we are always maintaining the sanctity of Raj Bhawan, the BJP president said.
He termed it a planned attack on Raj Bhawan and a desperate attempt of APCC to divert the attention of the people from the ‘serious crisis within the ruling Congress government.’
“The Governor has time and again given clarifications regarding his letter to the PM in connection with the Green Field Airport in Arunachal Pradesh. The leader of opposition Tamiyo Taga has also made his stand clear on many occasions,” he said.
“Let us use the Raj Bhawan as the link between the state and the development of the people,” Tagak said.
The state BJP also felt that terming the Governor as man from Assam and his alleged soft corner towards his home state would be detrimental to the state in many ways, he opined.
“As a highly learned and elder statesman of North East, he knows his responsibility and raring doubt on his integrity is unbecoming. We must feel lucky that a man of our region who knows us well has been placed in the Raj Bhawan to look after the gubernatorial affairs of the state,” he added.

ITANAGAR, Nov 15: Home Minister, Tanga Byaling and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Parliamentary Secretary, Nyamar Karbak jointly launched the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) schemes for all registered workers of Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) at Banquet Hall here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Byaling said that under the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana launched by the UPA government, the premium will be borne by the Centre and the state government at 80:20 ratio. The state government under chief minister Nabam Tuki has decided to pay the annual premium of Rs 330 and Rs 12 under PMJJBY and PMSBY for registered workers of APB&OCWWB respectively, through the Board's collection of one percent cess from every scheme of various department, he added.
APB&OCWWB chairman, Nyamar Karbak also informed that the workers registered with the board will be entitled to get a benefit of Rs 5 lakhs, under the aforementioned schemes besides, the existing death benefit scheme of the Board. Karbak said that under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, the registered workers under APB&OCWWB can avail medical assistance for major operations of upto Rs. 2 (Two) lakhs, while adding that the state government will also initiate housing and tool loans for registered workers soon.
Highlighting the benefits of both the schemes, SBI Chief Manager Jaspal Singh informed that PMSBY ensures Rs 2 lakhs, in case of accidental death to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18 to 70 years for a premium of Rs. 12 per annum per subscriber. The scheme would be offered/administered through Public Sector General Insurance Companies (PSGICs) or other General Insurance companies willing to offer the product on similar terms on the choice of the Bank/ RRB /Cooperative Bank concerned while, PMJJBY ensures death benefit of Rs 2 lakhs, under any circumstances.

Punish the absentee govt employees
As per the recent news report Odisha government dismissed 408 doctors for leaving their place of duty without approved permission of the authority for a long period. The report added that on the recommendation of the state health department, the government had initiated disciplinary proceedings against 412 doctors, who had been absent from their duty for a long period and remaining incommunicado. First of all the government of Odisha should be lauded for taking such bold step against its official for neglecting their duty. This will send strong message to other government officials who remains absent from their place of duty.
In our state too often people complain about how government officials especially doctors and teachers do not attend their duty. Most of the govt. servants who are posted in interior areas remain absent from their place of posting for months. They prefer the comfort of district headquarter and capital complex. The poor public is the worst suffers in such situation. Government of Arunachal should emulate its Odisha counterpart and get hard on those officials who remain absent from their place of posting. No leniency should be shown to such government officials. Strongest punishment should be meted out to those government officials who are irregular in attending the duty.

The buzz word these days in the national discourse is intolerance and the changing context and the shift in the propaganda to give a new definition to the idea of India is the order of the day.
The narrative, which was build up of the excessive showmanship, some say arrogance
of incumbents over the last 18 months, with lynching over food habits, episodes of Award-
Arunachal Pradesh, though in the remote east of the country was actively witnessing what was unfolding at the national level and reaching in its own way through the limited media exposure the state has, trying to contextualize it in the Arunachalee style!
Be that as it may, the State has its own share of debate on ‘tolerance and intolerance’. The fierce proxy war through local media, firstly between the ruling and the opposition party, which later shifted ground amongst the party in power. A twist in the entire drama came with the ‘leaked letter’ and the airport issue.
With the plot thickening each day, every citizen would eagerly wait for the morning newspaper to witness the drama unfold and attain a pale sadistic pleasure. The entire play and unfolding of events would give many of the reality shows a run for their money! Few years back, I was hooked to the reality show – Big Boss – and would be glued to the TV each night prime time to see what transpired in the house last 24 hours.
Now, I wait for my newspaper eagerly every morning to find out what happened and
I am beginning to enjoy the entire unfolding of events with high voltage drama –
unseen and unheard of in the State! The television programs are of little interest
these days compared to what is being witnessed in every morning’s headlines. In this
season of award and portfolio wapsi, both of which I don’t have, I too join the trend
and return my cable TV connection. So…bye-

A Consciously Inconspicuous Citizen
Bihar and beyond
Dear Editor,
Nobody has got a magic wand. These two significant developments in the national politics
that led to the rise of Kejriwal and Narendra Modi was due to massive anti-
AAP came into existence solely on the promise that they would provide corruption free government in the country and to bring Lokpal. You know what these duplex bungalows for Kejriwal, luxury cars, Rs 500 crores expenditure for advertisement and list of corruption charges against AAP goes on and on, it’s never ending for a moment. On the other hand, BJP came into power with 282 seats on the promise that they would bring back black money, so called kala dhan and promised each citizen rupees fifteen lakhs in their account.
I don’t see any significant impact of Bihar election on national politics in days to come. The only thing I saw in this election was that Bihar cannot think beyond caste when voting, goes the conventional wisdom. Having said that I wished this time they could have voted only on the basis of issues concerning them and for free and fair election. At least, the nation could have thought twice before calling them in tag name. I would be the happiest person not to give them this tag. If they could have voted beyond caste, the nation could have realized that they have gone far beyond caste politics towards development. But, that seems to be a distant dream now. The reason for BJP defeat is that they couldn’t project mass local leader as CM candidate and not able to form winnable alliance.
How exactly do Indians vote? I would like to stress here that politicians are taking advantage of the innocent citizen of this country. I would urge each one of you to vote wisely, not on the basis of clan or caste, but only on the basis of issues. Never aligned with one party permanently especially while choosing the right candidate. If we don’t change, surely we are moving towards disaster. There will be lack of decision making, inefficiency and stalling of progress and growth in our country. Question like Akal badi ya bhains will continue to come from time to time. The young generation will find it even more difficult to get a good education and well paid jobs. After all, if we choose our leader based only on the toffees he gives us, then we somewhat deserve our fate.

Painful experience
Dear Editor,
I had earlier heard and dismissed a lot of stories recounting the ill-
The angry mob also started to push and punch the passengers. My 7 month old baby
was in my arms, wailing. I was terrified when a woman in the mob demanded in Assamese
that the ladies in the vehicle also be pulled out and beaten. But just then, the
Assam Police arrived and I sighed in relief, as I believed that man in uniform would
certainly handle the situation with proper reason. But all my shock from the incident
on the road turned to more dismay when we were brought to Dhemaji PS along with the
vehicle by around 6 pm. There, the policemen searched the vehicle for any dent or
scratches as proof of the said hit and run case. But they couldn’t find any proof
in the vehicle; which incidentally, was a brand-
As I am writing this letter now, my baby is burning with high fever, perhaps due to the hunger, cold and shock from that night. I am writing this letter as a way of venting out my anger and frustrations. As the mother of a 7month old child, I can only spit and curse that alcoholic, heartless, OC of Dhemaji PS for all those sufferings that my little baby went through. But on second thought, I prefer to hold back all my bitterness, as I believe that there is a supreme seer up there, who will punish such wrong doers someday.
